(January 30, 2019) – Due to the extreme weather conditions caused by Winter Storm Jayden, the U.S. Postal Service will temporarily suspend regular delivery service throughout the Central Illinois District for Wednesday and Thursday, January 30-31, 2019, to ensure the safety and well-being of employees. In the Central IL District, mail delivery will be suspended for the 601, 603, 604, 605, 609, and 613-617 ZIP Codes. Post Offices will remain open to offer retail services.
Customers can call 1-800-ASK-USPS (1-800-275-8777) to obtain information, including available alternate Post Office retail locations, or check the Postal Service website: www.usps.com.
Postal employees are reminded to call the National Employee Emergency Hotline at 1-888-363-7462 for updated reporting information.
The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
I am so glad that they decided to suspend delivery. It’s too cold for those dedicated delivery men and women.
