HIGHLAND, Ind. (January 29, 2019) – An exhibit of nart by Jim Siergey opens on Saturday, February 2, at Promise You Art House in Highland, Indiana. An Opening Day reception will take place from noon to 6:00pm, and Siergey will be on hand to welcome guests. Nart buttons will be given to Opening Day guests while supplies last. The exhibit continues through April 6.
Nart takes a surreal look at the world through the eyes of the artist. According to Siergey, “It was on a grammar school field trip to the Art Institute of Chicago to view an exhibit on Surrealism where my head really got turned around and my view of existence was forever altered. It’s where I met Messrs. Magritte, Dali, Ernst, DuChamp, and Man Ray among others.”
Siergey had regular comic strips in Time magazine and USA Weekend. His comic strip “Cultural Jet Lag” ran for years in many alternative press publications. He designed and illustrated a series of comic strips for Albert Einstein, a major exhibit at Chicago’s Field Museum, and was profiled for the book Attitude: The New Subversive Political Cartoonists.
Promise You Art House is located at 8830 Kennedy Avenue in Highland, Indiana, and is open to the public on Thursdays and Fridays from 4:00–8:00pm and on Saturdays from 11:00am–7:00pm. Admission is free. For further information, visit www.PYarthouse.com.
