Obituary: Michael Alan Michalski, Sr.

November 24, 1958 – December 20, 2018

Michael Alan Michalski, Sr., age 60, of Dyer, IN, formerly of Lansing, IL, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 20, 2018.

Beloved husband of Debra Michalski, nee Cooper. Loving father of Michael (Elizabeth) Michalski, Jr. and Kathryn (Ryan) Pondinas. Proud grandfather of Emery Pondinas.

Devoted son of Sally and the late Raymond Michalski. Dear brother of Mary (Michael) Wilsens; son-in-law of Nancy and the late Donald Cooper; brother-in-law of Jeffrey Cooper and Cindy (Matt) Kimmel; uncle to several nieces and nephews.

Visitation Sunday, December 23, 2018 from 3:00pm until the time of the funeral service at 6:00pm at Village Church, 14849 93rd St. Dyer, IN, with Rev. Steve Miller officiating.

Michael graduated from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign with a Bachelor of Science, Mechanical Engineering in 1982. Michael was a Professional Mechanical Engineer for Environmental Systems Design where he worked for 23 years with a focus on the design of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems for a variety of projects, concentrating especially on healthcare facilities. His responsibilities included project management and dealing with owners and architects. Previous employers were Schmidt, Garden, & Erikson, Inc. and Perkins & Will. He was a member of ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers, Inc.) and ASHE (American Society for Healthcare Engineering).

Michael was a long-time member of Village Church in Dyer. He was formerly involved with the Lansing Old Timers Baseball and was involved in the start-up and coaching of the Lynwood Fire Travel Softball team. Mike was loved by his family and friends, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
