Three Roosters, La Deliciosa Michoacana, and Subway burglarized early Thursday morning

LANSING, Ill. (October 25, 2018) – Daisy Herrera has received early-morning phone calls from ADT before, but it usually turns out to be one of the piñatas in her Mexican grocery store setting off the motion sensor. This morning though, it was three young men who set off the alarm.
They broke in through the south front window and headed to the cash register. Removing the drawer, they broke it open and stole $140. That’s the amount that’s always left in the till to start the new day of business.
From Subway to Three Roosters, and then to La Deliciosa Michoacana in the same plaza, where again they smashed the glass door and headed for the cash register. This time they took the whole drawer and ran.
Marisol Pantoja was alone in the ice cream shop later this morning and understandably frightened. Herrera, however, was more annoyed than scared. “For what it was,” she shrugged, “I mean, it was… They’re just stupid. They’re definitely kids. Just—stupid. It was more of an inconvenience than anything.”
“It’s a good neighborhood,” said Ricardo Acevedo, son of Three Roosters owner Ernesto Acevedo. Nothing like this has happened in the seven or eight years Three Roosters has been open, so he was shocked to get the alarm this morning.
Herrera agrees. “We’ve never had any issues,” she said. “We’ve had, you know, weirdos here and there. But nothing like this.”
The Lansing Police Department is requesting that anyone with information about these three burglaries contact the Lansing Police Department Criminal Investigations Division at 708-895-7150.
