Proposed Human Relations Commission members being reviewed by Trustees

by Melanie Jongsma

LANSING, Ill. (August 22, 2018) – At the August 21 Committee of the Whole meeting, Mayor Patty Eidam reported that 31 Lansing residents had applied for the Human Relations Commission. Mayor Eidam selected 15 of those applicants to be interviewed, and following the interviews she chose 9 to recommend for appointment to the commission.

Village Trustees received the resumés and applications of the nine recommended appointees two weeks ago, and Mayor Eidam encouraged them to continue reviewing the information and even contact any or all of the nine applicants. “It is my intention that at the September 4 meeting we will have this again on the Committee of the Whole agenda,” Eidam said. “so that you can ask any questions or we can have discussion about those nine commissioners.”

“Assuming that that will go well,” Eidam continued, “we will have their formal appointment on that second meeting in September.” The second September meeting falls on September 18, at 7:00pm.

Further questions about the Human Relations Commission can be directed to Mayor Eidam or Ken Reynolds, Director of Communications:
