CHICAGO, Ill. (August 14, 2018) – Every Major League Baseball game begins with “The Star-Spangled Banner.” The August 19 Chicago White Sox vs. Kansas City Royals game will begin with color guard members from Lansing’s Civil Air Patrol Thunder Composite Squadron presenting colors on the field prior to the game.
Several cadets from the squadron have been trained to participate as color guard members, representing the squadron at parades, memorial services, and other events.
The 1:10pm game at Guaranteed Rate Field will be televised on NBC Sports Chicago and Fox Sports. Color guard members will be on the field prior to game time to carry the American flag and the Civil Air Patrol flag.

Civil Air Patrol is an auxiliary program of the U.S. Air Force founded in 1941. With 60,000 members nationwide who devote their time to their communities and to emergency and relief efforts, the program also promotes aviation and related fields through aerospace and STEM education. Adult and cadet volunteers are part of each squadron, supporting America’s communities with emergency response and ground services, youth development and promotion of air, space, and cyber power.
