Obituary: Kathleen De Maar

Kathleen De Maar, 65, went to be with the Lord on July 19, 2018, in Grand Blanc, Michigan, after battling cancer. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 25, 2018 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Hillside Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8941 Kleinman Rd, Highland, IN 46322. Funeral Service will be held Thursday July 26, 2018, at 11:00am at Faith Church-Highland, Indiana, campus (8910 Grace Street, Highland, Indiana 46322).

Kathleen was born on August 18, 1952, in Blue Island, Illinois, to Clarence and Wilma (Dykstra) De Haan. She earned a teaching degree from Trinity Christian College and had a successful career as a teacher at Lansing Christian School. She married Larry De Maar on June 13, 1979. They raised three children. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was loved dearly and will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Carol De Haan. She is survived by her husband Larry De Maar; daughter Lora (Jon) Postma; son Michael (Nichole) De Maar; son Ben (Katelyn) De Maar; 5 grandchildren, sister Joyce (Allen) Patterson; nieces Anne, Faith, and Jennifer; and nephew David Patterson.
