Tickets on sale for Bloom Township Senior Picnic

Annual picnic will be August 2 at Veterans Memorial Park, Glenwood

GLENWOOD, Ill. (July 1, 2018) – Tickets went on sale today for the August 2 Bloom Township Senior Picnic. The closing date for ticket sales is July 27; no tickets will be sold at the picnic. In addition, township personnel warn, attenders must bring their tickets to the picnic in order to receive a lunch. Without a ticket, an additional $5.00 must be paid.

The box lunch includes hot chicken, roasted potatoes, corn on the cob, coleslaw, and rolls. Beverages will be provided free of charge.

Picnic day begins at 9:00am with information and giveaways from senior services providers from throughout the southland area. Music, games, and caricatures will also be part of the morning celebration.

Box lunches will be served at noon, and live music will fill the afternoon. Dancing is encouraged.

Attenders will receive a free gift from Bloom Township Supervisor TJ Somer and the Bloom Township Board of Trustees.

The Bloom Township Senior Lunch is for senior citizens only. No children will be allowed to participate. Seniors who need transportation to the picnic can call Bloom Township Senior Wheels: 708-754-8200. The ride service is free for Bloom Township residents.

Veterans Memorial Park is located at 19101 Halsted Street in Glenwood, Illinois.

What to bring

Picnickers are encouraged to bring their own tablecloth, lawn chair, snacks, games, and whatever else is needed to be comfortable during a day outside.

Rain plans

In the event of mild rain, the picnic will go on. In the case of a total rain-out, ticket-holders may come to Bloom Township headquarters’ north building bus garage to receive their box lunches and complimentary gift.
