LANSING, Ill. (June 19, 2018) – The area that will become Lansing’s dog park is now marked by wooden stakes and surrounded with silk fencing. Landscape Architect Planning Resources Inc arrived at Bock Park on Monday, June 18, to mark the area in preparation for groundbreaking.

The dog park has been given the name Paws ‘n Play. It is more than an acre in size, and typical snapshots cannot effectively capture the space:

To give a sense of the scale of the dog park, it takes about four minutes to walk around the perimeter at a casually brisk pace.

The architect drawing below provides a bird’s-eye view of the overall design of the park.

The architect’s Overall Dimension Plan gives a sense of what Paws ‘n Play dog park will look like.

Most of the “construction” involved in a dog park involves fencing, landscape features, electricity for the key card scanning system, and water, as well as installation of features such as benches, shade structures, water fountains, and waste receptacles. (Those specific features have not yet been chosen.) Planning Resources Inc. anticipates Paws ‘n Play will be ready for doggy visitors no later than July 31, 2018.

Paws ‘n Play dog park is located within Bock Park, which is situated between Chicago Avenue and Lorenz Avenue, south of 175th Street.
