MUNSTER, Ind. (February 21, 2018) – Steel Magnolias, a hilarious and heart-warming play set in a Louisiana beauty shop, opens this week and runs through March 25. In keeping with the play’s message about the bonds of friendship and family, Theatre at The Center has developed a March “Makeover” Madness event on Thursday, March 15. The event is an opportunity for friends to get together for pampering, dinner, and a play.

During the March “Makeover” Madness event, guests can enjoy a delicious, plated, pre-show dinner, prepared by Chef Joe Trama and served at 5:45pm. The discounted combination ticket for the dinner and theater package costs $55 (plus tax). A cash bar is also available.

When guests present their theater ticket for the evening’s performance, they receive free admission to the March “Makeover” Madness event, located in the ballroom across the lobby from the theater at The Center for Visual and Performing Arts. From 5:00–7:00pm, before the curtain goes up on the 7:30pm performance, guests can enjoy a relaxing chair massage, receive a makeup application, and take home samples of beauty products from local salons. Vendors will also announce the winners of “beauty inspired” raffle prizes at the culmination of the March “Makeover” Madness portion of the event.

Several local salons and spas will be on hand to display products, offer discounted coupons, and distribute giveaways to guests while they last. Vendors include Spa Pointe & Hair Studio, Sophia’s HairDesign, and Salon on Ridge in Munster, and Navii Salon and Spa in Schererville. Krystal Quagliara, ACE Certified Personal Trainer and Beach Body Fitness Coach, will also be on hand to answer questions, demonstrate effective workout routines, and offer samples of healthy, nutritious shakes.

Representatives from James & Sons Fine Jewelers will showcase examples of their jewelry and help guests shop for their next fine jewelry indulgence.

“Before the play became an iconic film and garnered an Academy Award for Julia Roberts, it was a funny and touching Off Broadway play about the bonds of friendship and family,” said Theatre at the Center Artistic Director Linda Fortunato, who directs this new production of Steel Magnolias in Munster.

Actresses returning to TATC for this production include Heidi Kettenring, Cory Goodrich, and Landree Fleming. Cast members making their TATC debut are Jeannie Affelder, Joslyn Jones, and Myesha Tiara.
