SSC seeking nominations for Star Awards

Last year’s honorees included Lansing teacher Bridgett Annicks

Bridgett Annicks (left), a teacher at Lansing’s Oak Glen Elementary School, was honored with the Star Award last year, and Janice Crowe won the special SSC Alumna Star Award.[/caption]The nomination page on the Chicago Women’s Conference website explains, “The award(s) will recognize women who have demonstrated outstanding leadership in business, community, and/or education. These women are leaders in promoting and supporting health and wellness or personal and professional development.” Last year, Bridgett Annicks, a teacher at Lansing’s Oak Glen Elementary School, was honored with the Star Award.

A special Star Award is given to an alumna of South Suburban College to recognize “achievements in her profession/career, volunteerism, or other outstanding life achievement.” Last year’s winner of this award was Janice Crowe, a graduate of South Suburban College’s nursing program.

Star AwardThis year’s conference theme is “You Can Be Your Own Superhero.”

Though this is the tenth year of the conference, it is only the third year of the Star Awards. Women can nominate themselves and others at the conference website:
