“No dueling Santas,” clarifies Ken Reynolds

LANSING, Ill. (October 11, 2017) – “November 1 is our target date to be done with the building,” said Ken Reynolds, Director of Communications for the Village of Lansing. That date gives the Village and the volunteers involved nearly a month to address any last-minute details before the Christmas season begins in earnest.
Addressing a rumor
Reynolds was quick to put to rest any rumors about tension between the Village and the Lansing Area Chamber of Commerce, since both have Santa-related events in December. “I want to make sure everybody understands—and get the word out please—” he said at a Chamber luncheon, “—we met with the Chamber. We will not be opening the Santa House until they have had their December 2 Santa arrival. We are not getting into any ‘dueling Santas’—that’s not what this is about.”
The Santa House schedule
Reynolds explained that waiting until after the December 2 Chamber event still allows three full weeks (Monday, December 4, through Friday, December 22) in which Santa visits can be scheduled at the Santa House. Specifics have not been finalized yet, but Santa’s schedule is likely to include at least one weeknight and one weekend afternoon during each of those three weeks, though never during a time when a Chamber Christmas event is scheduled. “We are working together on this,” affirmed Reynolds, referring to the Chamber. “We will be working to provide Santa to as many people as possible.”
