LANSING, Ill. (September 5, 2018) – The American Legion Riders from Edward Schultz Chapter 697 will be gathering at Sunrise Health Foods (17650 Torrence Avenue) on Wednesday, September 12, to receive World War II veteran Martin Garcia and Korean War veteran William Van Duyn, two Lansing veterans who will be returning from a day-long experience with Honor Flight Chicago. This will be the last flight of the season for Honor Flight Chicago. The season normally extends into October, but it is shorter this year because of construction at Midway Airport.

The Lansing community is invited to join the welcome. A specific time of arrival is not known—typical Honor Flight welcomes happen anywhere between 9:00 and 10:30pm in the Sunrise parking lot, depending on when the plane touches down at Midway.

No RSVP is required. Anyone who wishes to welcome Garcia and Van Duyn home is invited to meet at the American Legion at 9:00pm or at Sunrise Health Foods at 9:30pm.

The veterans will be escorted by motorcycles, police, and fire trucks to the American Legion for a welcome home party that the public is also invited to attend. The American Legion is located at 18255 Grant Street in Lansing, Illinois.
