Bicyclers take Route 66 through Lansing

photo and story by Dan Bovino

LANSING, Ill. (June 17, 2018) – A large group of bicycle riders stopped in front of Lansing’s Santa House. It was the Iowa 150 Route 66 Bicycle Tour. The group was passing through Lansing on the Pennsy Greenway. They started in Chicago and will be traveling 1,200 miles total.

The group’s route will parallel the old Route 66. Today’s ride brought them on the Thorn Creek trail and then down the old plank trail to Joliet. They will stay in Joliet, Illinois, for the night.
