TATC Kids teaches theater fundamentals

MUNSTER, Ind. (May 2018) – TATC Kids is a summer theater camp for kids ages 5 to 17, at Theatre at the Center in Munster. Young people will learn the fundamentals of acting, singing, choreography, scenic design, and writing for the stage under the guidance of working theater professionals. Children with previous theatre experience can take their individual performance skills to the next level while working with others as part of an ensemble performance. Each camp workshop will culminate in a public performance on the Main Stage of Theatre at the Center.
Workshop options include the following:
- Broadway Bootcamp—a summer theater workshop where students learn various theatre fundamentals in a positive, creative, and rewarding professional theater environment. At the end of the one-week workshop, students create a musical revue where they sing and dance in fully choreographed musical numbers. The workshop ends with a final performance open to the public.
When: Monday–Friday, June 18–22, 1:00–3:00pm
Ages: 5–9
Cost: $150 - Stories From Scratch—a summer theater workshop that encourages kids to use their imagination while working with other students and the instructor to create a show to present to the public during the final class. Participants will learn basic acting skills as they create characters as part of an ensemble.
When: Monday–Friday, June 18–29, 9:00–11:00am
Ages: 7–17
Cost: $295 - Shakespeare Shenanigans—a fun-filled Shakespeare workshop that takes young actors on a journey of imagination and discovery over the two-week course. Students will explore characters and create their own version of one of Shakespeare’s most beloved works. This class is designed for students with a passion for Shakespeare who love to perform.
When: Monday–Friday, June 18–29, 3:00–5:00pm
Ages: 10–18
Cost: $295 - Seussical, Jr.!—Dr. Seuss’s most beloved characters bounce from the page to the stage as students spend two weeks in rehearsals learning Seussical, Jr., The Musical. They will spend their day in classes and rehearsals learning everything they need to know to put on a show. Camp will end with a performance.
When: Monday–Friday, July 16–27, 9:00am–3:00pm (A public performance will be held on Saturday, July 28 at 10:00am.)
