District 215 approves Teresa Lance as Superintendent

LANSING, Ill. (April 25, 2018) – The Thornton Fractional High School District 215 Board of Education announced today that it has approved the hiring of Teresa Lance as the district’s new superintendent, effective July 1, 2018. Lance will follow Superintendent Dr. Creg E. Williams, who will retire on June 30 after 11 years of service.

Lance currently serves as the Chief School Leadership Officer of Harrison School District 2 in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where she provides support and supervision to schools and campus leaders across the district. Lance has served in this role since 2013. The district serves over 11,000 students.

Lance is originally from New York, and she describes herself as a lifelong learner. Her career path has taken her from Baltimore, Maryland; to Houston, Texas; to Naperville, Illinois; and to Colorado Springs, Colorado. She began her career as a middle school health and physical education teacher. After several years in the classroom, she became an assistant principal and then a principal, working in both middle and high schools. Lance also served as a turnaround consultant for American Institutes for Research (AIR), based in Naperville, Illinois. She has more than 24 years of education experience.

Lance received both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the State University College at Cortland, New York. She is currently pursuing her doctoral degree in Educational Leadership.

Board President Richard Dust said, “The School Board of District 215 is extremely happy to be getting such a highly qualified person as Ms. Teresa Lance to become our next superintendent. We believe that she is exactly the right person to continue on the excellent work of Dr. Creg E. Williams and lead us into a successful future.”

Thornton Fractional High School District 215 is headquartered at 18601 Torrence Avenue in Lansing.
