LANSING, Ill. (February 15, 2018) – The Genevans, the student choir of Geneva College in Pennsylvania, are celebrating their 80th concert season this year by touring the midwest. Their concert season begins at the Reformed Presbyterian Home in Pittsburgh on February 28, and continues with a five-day tour to Michigan and Illinois. Lansing’s Bethel Church will host the 60-member choir on March 4 at 7:00pm.

Though the choir’s theme—“Soli Deo Gloria” (To God Alone be Glory)—and style may sound overly formal to some, Bethel member Carisa DeBoer assures people that the music is a beautiful experience. DeBoer’s daughter Daneen is in the choir, and the family has attended concerts at the college. It is a tradition of the Genevans to end every concert by surrounding the audience and singing Christiansen’s arrangement of “Beautiful Savior” and Paul Manz’s “E’en So, Lord Jesus, Quickly Come.” “It’s very moving,” says DeBoer.

The Soli Deo Gloria concert at Bethel is free of charge and open to the public, though a love offering will be taken during intermission. During intermission, concertgoers will enjoy performances by the Grace Notes, a women’s ensemble, and the Eight Bells, a double barbershop quartet.
