by Melanie Jongsma

LANSING, Ill. (January 11, 2018) – Lansing residents who applied for enrollment in the upcoming Citizens Police Academy were informed today of their application status. The acceptance letter from Lt. Scott Bailey opened with, “You have been chosen to be one of the people to attend the Village of Lansing Citizen’s Police Academy.”

The nine-week program is designed to give citizens insight into the operations of the Lansing Police Department. Students will learn about their role as citizens, the functions of the various Divisions within the Lansing Police Department, and how the Divisions work together to promote safety and security within the Village of Lansing.

The curriculum has been designed to take students through the individual Divisions step by step. Each of the nine classes will be approximately two and a half hours long, beginning at 7:00pm. The first class is scheduled for Wednesday, January 17.
