Breakfast with Santa this Saturday

Lansing Area Chamber event is fun for kids, and good for the community

information provided by the Lansing Area Chamber of Commerce

LANSING, Ill. (December 4, 2017) – On Saturday, December 9, the Lansing Area Chamber of Commerce invites the community to Breakfast With Santa. The event is sponsored by the Copper Muggers and hosted by T. F. South High School (18500 Burnham Avenue in Lansing). Tickets are only $5.00.

All proceeds earned from the Chamber Breakfast With Santa will go to the Family Giving Program.

“Not many people know about this program,” says Amy Todd, Executive Director of the Chamber. “Each year we select some families from Lansing that are in special need during the holiday season.” The Lansing Chamber works with Social Workers at all of the Lansing schools in an effort to help at least one family from each school.

“The program has total anonymity,” assures Todd. “We are only given information such as age, sex, sizes, and interests of the children. The Chamber then uses our donations to purchase everything we possibly can for each child. Those items are returned to the school social workers, and they get them to the parents. Last year we were able to help 20 children from the community.”

“We would love to be able to increase the number of children we can help this year,” says Todd.

Breakfast With Santa is the Chamber’s largest fundraiser for the Family Giving Program. Lansing residents and businesses are encouraged to help by participating in the pancake breakfast. Ticket sales are one source of revenue, but additional donations are also welcome.

Individuals and businesses who are interested in donating toward the Family Giving Program should contact Lansing Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Amy Todd at 708-474-4170 or [email protected].

In addition to the good that will come as a result of income generated, Todd encourages families to simply have fun breakfasting with Santa. “Bring your camera and wish list,” she says. The Chamber is providing goody bags for Santa to give to children who visit him.
